Sleep.... The most overrated past time

Elias has been sleeping through the night since six months I would say, but these last few night he has been waking up screaming and crying at all hours of the morning. For the most part he just wants to cuddle and nurse so I'm not sure what the deal is. In the past night wakings have been due to developmental mile stones and illness. I will tell you I have noticed giant lumps in his gums ( molars ), an increase in snot production (clear), and this morning I noticed some tugging at his ears.

( Elias at about 6 mons, with a pretty bad eczema flare)

Is it teeth, an ear infection, growth spurt, or a new skill to be learned? I wish  I had the answer, but whatever it is I hope he gets through it asap. Mommy needs to sleep.

Cloth Diapers

What you use cloth diapers! Most people do not understand why any one would venture into cloth. I will admit I was one of those people before Elias was born. I wanted nothing to do with them, I mean learning how to be a mother is hard enough.

The decision to switch was kind of forced upon me. As it turns out Elias takes after his mother in more than just his looks. We started out with pampers. They were great for about two months, then the diaper rash began. Huggies pure and natural came next, all was great for about two months. Elias had the worst diaper rash with these. So I researched chlorine free diaper options, Earths Best it was. These were great but paying $11 for 35 diapers gets expensive real quick.

As it happens one of the mothers in my baby group was using cloth, so I started asking questions. Then I was really curious and another cloth mama in the group let me borrow one of her Bum Genius diapers. Who knew cloth diapers had changed so much from prefolds and pins. These puppies were as easy to use as disposables. So I started to do my research. The initial cost was great but the overall savings cannot be denied. After talking to my husband and using the one BG for a few weeks I decided I was jumping in. It was the best decision I have ever made and they are so cute on little man.

The Point

I have aspirations to be a famous blogger, yeah right. To be honest, I am not sure what direction this will go in . There are so many ideas and inspirations floating in my brain that it will probably explode.

Where to begin? I am currently a stay at home mother, I have the cutest and smartest 14 month old to walk the planet, but then again I could be biased. Before having Elias I was a nurse working for a major dialysis company. I was pretty happy at this particular job but something was really missing. Once we found out we were pregnant my journey into becoming a stay at home mom began.

Elias was born July 12, 2009. Next to meeting and marrying my husband this was the happiest day of my life. Settling into motherhood was not as easy as I thought it would be. In this blog I hope to share the twists and turns that lead me to where I am today, an almost granola eating earth mother.
